As you and your baby continue to grow, he now measures about 12cm. His bones are beginning to harden and fine downy hair called lanugo is starting to appear on his skin (which is still very thin and transparent).
Your baby now has tastebuds. He’s also starting to show different
facial expressions as his facial muscles develop and eyebrows form –
all of which make his face more babylike. He’s busy inhaling and exhaling
amniotic fluid which helps his lungs develop. Now his legs are growing longer
than his arms and, in anticipation for all those kicks later in your pregnancy,
he can move all his joints!
You may find you’re getting a runny nose or feeling more sweaty than usual. Don’t worry, it’s perfectly normal to feel this way; your fluid volume has increased because your heart now has to work harder. You may also have a nosebleed or two, as the pregnancy hormones in your system make the capillaries in your nose increase, just as the blood supply increases to your uterus.
