Saying
During this stage your baby will start to recognise his own name and turn around when you call him - little Mr. Personality!
Although he's not yet talking, his random babbling will begin to sound more like words as he repeats the sounds he's mastered. It's just his way of getting used to the sound of his own voice.
By around 9 months your baby will start to understand the meaning of the word 'no' - although this doesn't necessarily mean he'll always obey it!
When he says 'mama' or 'dada' your baby is referring to 2 very special people in his life, although he'll still get you muddled up. He won't be shy about offering his opinion either, whether by babbling, laughing, squealing or screaming!
Help your baby communicate
As your baby is not talking yet, look out for non-verbal signs of communication - like telling you he wants to feed himself by picking up food with his hands. Now is a great time to introduce him to soft finger foods. Allowing him to feed himself can be a bit messy, but he'll probably eat more!
