From smooth purees to mashed up foods

By now your baby is well used to smooth pureed foods, and he’s ready for a little more texture!

Babies develop their chewing skills from around 7 months, even before their teeth have come through. Your baby will now learn to move his tongue from side to side - great for mashing and swallowing more textured foods.

You can help him by starting to mince home cooked food rather than puree it. Eventually you'll be able to mash it with a fork to create the right consistency.

Cow & Gate Baby Balance incorporates this progression - look for our Stage 2 range with ‘a little more taste and texture!’ There’s a great variety of choice, so you can ensure your baby has a varied and balanced diet.
