Your baby is now around 40cm long and weighs some 2lb 8oz. He’s genuinely in dreamland around now, spending about 80% of his sleeping time in REM (dream) mode.
As you might expect, there’s lots of accelerated brain development at this stage. Nerve fibres are developing rapidly, enabling brain impulses to travel faster and increasing your baby's ability to learn when he reaches the outside.
Keep up your intake of both fluids and fibre to alleviate the worst effects of constipation. It’s a common complaint that can be lessened with around 8 glasses of fluid a day including water, fruit juices or smoothies. High-fibre food at main meals as well as snacks will also help.
